reflection

Q1: When discussing issues of hunger, we often use these biblical sources to cite our tradition’s concern for fighting hunger. However, we no longer live in an agricultural society, and the laws of reaping and tithing no longer apply. How do we make these texts relevant today? What can we do in our modern lives to realize the principles that underlie these laws?

A: by helping poor people

Q2: The Torah recognizes certain categories of people who are particularly vulnerable: the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, the widow, etc. What categories of people today require special assistance and our focused attention? Why?

A: poor people and  homeless people because they do not have as much money and need help

Q3: Explain the tension between Deuteronomy chapter 15 verses 4 and 11, found in the same chapter in Deuteronomy.

A: One verse is saying that god will bless you and the other is saying that you should always help the needy and the first one is false because there is a lot of poor people today and we need to help them

Q4: If we accept an obligation to care for the needy in our society, does that mean that we have to do it without regret for our own financial loss? Do you personally feel that you are able to give without regret or hesitation?

A: if you are giving something you dont need you wont have regret but if you give something you need you might have regret.

sukkah reflection

I think I did pretty good while making our sukkah because I learned how to use new tools and Noah and I put up one whole wall. I also came up with the idea with the corn. I also did drill a couple of screws in the sukkah. Sometimes I was not working and I was talking to much.

process

img_20160914_144022         first we had to decide the size for each piece of card board. The we made marks on the cardboard so we could cut the cardboard exact. Then once we finished cutting cut a piece of acrylic to separate the floor. and we glued all off the materials together and the glued pipe cleaners to the top and then we were finished.

Difficulties: it will cost a lot of money and be very hard to build.

successes: it was very fun to build.

what I am best at and what I am worst

I think I am the best at listening. I think I am best at listening because I like hearing other peoples ideas. Also if my idea is not the best i listen to my group mates ideas are. I also help to make my group mates the best idea they can be.

I think I am worst at workload. I think I am worst at workload because sometimes I get easily distracted by my friends. I also sometimes sit passively. Sometimes I do help my group if the project is something that interest me

Overall I think I am best at listening and worst at workload.

design reflection

img_20160908_094135I think my sukkah will be hard to complete. It will be very cool if we do build this sukkah but it will be hard. Something wrong with the design it will cost a lot of money. Bu since we have 15 kids we can separate our class and work on the top and thee bottom
